The Norwich Baseball Association runs a Cal Ripken program for co-ed teams of 8-10 year olds (10U) and 10-12 year olds (12U).
Players generally start Cal Ripken baseball in the summer between 2nd and 3rd grade. Younger players (K-2) in Norwich can play tee ball and coach pitch through Norwich Recreation.
Calendar
Mud Season
A warm-up for players in grades 3 – 6 to prepare for the Spring Season. Practices begin after February break and conclude at April break and are held in the Marion Cross gymnasium.
Spring Season
The primary baseball season. We play in the Upper Valley Cal Ripken League against Dresden (Hanover), Hartford, and Lebanon. It is real baseball, intended to be developmental, competitive, and fun!
All-Star Program
Each year, Norwich sends one 10U and one 12U team to play in the Vermont Cal Ripken State Tournament. There are daily practices and games over a 2 week period in June. Players are selected based on performance in the Spring Season. In 2024, the program ran from approximately June 17-July 1st.
Summer Baseball
A more relaxed season running between early July and mid/late August. One practice and one game per week. A good time to introduce rising 3rd graders to the program. When there is sufficient interest we partcipate in the Claremont Corcoran Tournament.
Fall Baseball
The fall baseball season is preparation for the following spring. One weeknight practice and one weekend game per week.
