Rake the mound and near home plate, drag on all the base paths.
It is important to get the cleat marks off the dirt or they dry out and the field becomes a bumpy mess.
Kids rake the field out and use the drags. It's good for the kids to take responsibility for their field.
Tarp the bases, pitcher's mound, and home plate with the appropriate tarp and weigh-down with PVC pipe.
Organize shed as best as possible, keeping rakes and bats out of the hitting nets.
Lock the shed!
Girard Field fence goes up before spring games start. Takes 2-3 people about 30-40 minutes. There are two metals pieces that are used to create holes for stakes. As the netting is stretched stakes are added. Hand sledge is necessary and gloves are recommended. Foul poles are regulation Cal Ripken, 200’. It's helpful for stability to place a wooden stake next to foul poles and wrap fence a few times around both so that as fence gets pulled it tightens against foul pole.
When taking down in the winter it's useful to periodically zip tie the rolled up fencing to keep it compact.
